Falling Walls Conference in Berlin

Twenty years ago the fall of the Berlin Wall changed the world.
On the 9th of November 2009, the 20th anniversary of the end of the iron curtain, the Einstein Foundation raises the question:
Which are the next walls to fall - and how will they affect our lives?
More than twenty acclaimed international researchers gave lectures at the scientific conference "Falling Walls" and highlighted the next breakthroughs in a wide variety of scientific areas.

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel was keynote speaker.  

Prof. Matthias Driess, chair of UniCat,  spoke about "Breaking the wall of limited resources". He outlined the important role of catalyisis for saving energy and creating new materials e.g. biohydrogen.

The Falling Walls Conference is organised by the Einstein Foundation, a non-profit foundation that promotes scientific research.
